*NEW* Sustainable Initiative Award

Award Category Sponsor:

Opening October 2026

Available to Stadium Experience Member Venues Only

Award Criteria:  This award recognises venues that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to sustainability by embedding environmentally and socially responsible initiatives into their day-to-day operations, culture and long-term strategy.

Entries may showcase one significant initiative, or alternatively a series of complementary initiatives that together have created a meaningful and lasting impact.  This could include, but is not limited to, reducing environmental impact, carbon reduction initiatives supporting local communities / charitable causes, improving resource efficiency, promoting biodiversity, reducing waste, sustainable procurement, or enhancing social value.

Judges will be looking for evidence that sustainability is not simply a one-off project, campaign or new build, but an integral part and the culture of how the organisation operates.  Successful entries should demonstrate leadership, staff engagement, measurable outcomes, and a clear commitment to continuous improvement.

Examples of initiatives may include:

  • Carbon reduction and net zero strategies
  • Energy, water and waste reduction programmes
  • Sustainable food sourcing and procurement
  • Recycling, reuse and circular economy initiatives
  • Community partnerships and social impact programmes
  • Biodiversity and green space projects
  • Staff engagement and sustainability training
  • Responsible supply chain initiatives
  • Innovation that delivers measurable environmental or social benefits
  • Certifications or awards that demonstrate a sustainable approach

Judges will consider:

  • How sustainability has been embedded into the organisation’s culture and operations
  • The scale and measurable impact of the initiative(s)
  • Staff, customer and stakeholder engagement
  • Innovation and best practice
  • Long-term commitment and plans for continuous improvement
  • Evidence that the approach delivers lasting environmental, social and/or economic benefits.
