Rebuilt in 2022 after a £72 million transformation, the stadium famously hosted the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and with a permanent capacity of 17,500 (expandable for larger scale events, subject to availability), and is the home and headquarters of UK Athletics: serving elite sport, local clubs, and everyday fitness.
Alexander Stadium is a world-class international athletics stadium and premier sporting & events venue. It is the largest athletics facility in the UK, featuring elite-level athletic tracks, a Gymnastics and Martial Arts Centre and facilities for conferences and events.
Alexander Stadium has hosted major national events such as the British Championships, Müller Diamond League and English Schools Championships, helping athletes progress from club to national and international level. The historic Birchfield Harriers train and compete here, underscoring the stadium’s reputation for sporting excellence.
Named after athletics pioneer William Whiteway Alexander, the stadium first opened in 1927. It was redeveloped on its current Perry Park site and reopened in 1978 and was transformed again in 2022 for the Commonwealth Games.

The Hospitality Suite at Alexander Stadium is an impressive 526m² event space. The room can cater for up to 250 guests seated and 450 standing guests.
The room also boasts trackside views for memorable receptions, gala dinners or award ceremonies.
Alexander Stadium offers 6 private suites for groups of between 8 and 32 guests.
Box 1 and 2 can combine to create a larger space for groups of 10-12 guests.
Additional track-level office or meeting spaces available for hire.
The Annex Meeting Room at Alexander Stadium is 98m² and ideal for meetings or events. The room can cater for up to 50 guests. The space offers an adaptable layout for meetings, breakout sessions and hospitality events.
The Alexander Stadium also offers full venue hire, which includes full use of the stadium (including the hospitality suite and VIP boxes), car parking for 500 vehicles, a seated capacity from 18-30k and standing spaces for up to 40k guests.
Alongside this, the venue offers branding opportunities and a dedicated events team to help you along every step of the way.
