Ashton Gate Stadium is recruiting for a Partnership Sales Executive to join their team in Bristol.  Ashton Gate Stadium is a unique sports and entertainment business with the core aim of providing integral support services to ensure the sustainability of Stephen Lansdown’s sporting group of companies which includes Bristol Sport, Bristol City, Bristol Bears, Bristol Flyers Basketball and each of their respective community charities.

Purpose of the Job

This is a key pro active sales role whose primary objective is to ensure the budgeted revenues for BCFC are met and where possible exceeded. This will be achieved by ensuring you and the commercial team effectively sell all available inventory and by developing and growing the revenue delivered by new, existing and lapsed clients.

This role will require the effective management of a personal client and agency portfolio.

As part of your role, you will be expected to drive a brand led sell which creates a deep and meaningful understanding of both the Bristol Sport and our professional clubs’ proposition to clients.

You will also be expected to create tailored packages for clients incorporating all the opportunities available to you and which answer a clients’ brief.

  • To devise and execute a sponsorship and advertising strategy for your client portfolio which will be developed by generating new business
  • Identify new revenue growth opportunities within your client portfolio and to drive revenue from an existing client base
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of sales calls and external sales activity

General Responsibilities


  • To devise and execute a sponsorship and advertising strategy and build your own client portfolio
  • Identify new revenue growth opportunities and develop a client portfolio and to drive revenue into Bristol City FC and the wider Bristol Sport Group
  • To develop sales plans and proposals to drive key commercial partnerships and revenue
  • To successfully close new business opportunities
  • To source new leads to create, build and maintain a sales database and pipeline
  • To achieve and where possible exceed sales targets by building productive long-term business relationships and generating new business potential
  • To use your initiative to help develop revenue potential
  • To produce effective pitch and sponsorship proposals
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of sales calls and external sales activity
  • To ensure existing clients are kept up to date with developments
  • To work with the account management team in the execution of your commercial partnership agreements and to ensure these are delivered in a timely and professional fashion
  • To ensure clients are made aware of the return on their investment at all times and to demonstrate the reach of their activity with us
  • To maintain a constant focus on short and long term revenues
  • To effectively adapt you sales technique depending on market conditions
  • To fully articulate the Bristol Sport proposition and its relevance to advertisers/ clients
  • To be seen as an expert in Bristol Sport and its strengths.
  • To demonstrate a broad knowledge of advertising/sponsorship within a sporting context and to sell its benefits to clients/advertisers
  • To comprehend, interpret and present sales and market data to maximise Bristol Sport’s advertising potential
  • To have full knowledge of previous, current and future activity for each client
  • To ensure that all competitor leads are chased and followed up at all times
  • To ensure all renewals are effectively managed at all times
  • To fully understand the Lansdown Business Membership proposition and to articulate this and its benefits to clients
  • To sell Lansdown Business Memberships and to upsell to incorporate partnership and advertising opportunities
  • To work closely with the Hospitality Sales team to drive cross pollination across both teams
  • Work closely and build a relationship with key steakholders within BCFC


  • To effectively negotiate the best price possible for every piece of business and to work within the rate card pricing
  • To effectively manage all deals to maximise revenue


To create and present effective presentations showcasing Bristol Sport’s potential to maximum effect

To present Bristol Sport on a 1:1 basis or small group and be confident in presenting to larger audiences

To effectively utilise Insight in preparation for all meetings and in all presentations
To ensure all Bristol Sport platforms/opportunities are fully considered and where appropriate included in all meetings and pitches

To identify speaking opportunities where we can showcase the Bristol Sport opportunity to maximum effect

To support the Group Head of Commercial in ensuring there is effective sales collateral available to promote BCFC opportunities


Ensure client records and files are up to date and can be effectively used by anyone at any time

Produce weekly reports detailing:

Revenue secured

Inventory sold and Inventory to sell

Client updates

Wins and Losses

Updated pipeline with % likelihood
