Events Success at Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds
Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds, part of the Sodexo Sports & Leisure Prestige Venues & Events portfolio, has reported significant conference and events success following extensive refurbishments at the venue.
Following a £40m investment in summer 2019 the brand-new Emerald Stand was built, bringing with it a number of new luxury event spaces. As a result, Emerald Headingley Stadium has announced that its spend per head grew by 19% year-on-year, and guest attendance increased by 27%.
The venue also over-delivered on its Christmas 2019 budget by an impressive 45% and has also already reached over 2,500 covers for Christmas 2020, an increase of 100% compared to Christmas party sales in March 2019.
The stadium’s new, unique events offering is largely to thank for this boom in sales, with the contemporary Emerald Suite proving particularly popular. The only suite in the world to have panoramic views over two international stadia, a large open room with expansive windows and 10 plasma screensit is a large open space boasting 10 plasma screens and expansive windows looking out over each pitch, with a capacity of 500 guests for dining.
The next phase of refurbishments will see the re-opening of The Long Room, due to be completed at the end of March 2020. The room can accommodate up to 350 people for a conference, training session or away-day and offers views over the Headingley cricket pitch.
Kelly Knowles, Head of Business Development at Emerald Headingley Stadium, comments: “Everyone at Emerald Headingley is extremely proud of the refurbishments that have taken place. We have already had a number of new market segments making use of these new contemporary spaces, from large conferences to private functions, and we look forward to hosting an array of exciting events in the future”.
